01 / The map
Every current site. Each platform's history.
Pick a platform, or click one of its sites, to see its sites and its physical therapists by quarter.
Current sites
1,622 sites at the centre of their ZIP code, from CMS Care Compare (published 15 October 2026). Practices with no platform tie appear without name or size; the workbook lists them.
Physical therapists by quarter ·
- ties public at the time (point in time)
- today's billing entities, back in time (hindsight)
The solid line counts a billing entity only from the day its tie to the platform was public; use it for anything about timing. A gap is a quarter whose Medicare file does not exist.
02 / Platforms
Therapy platforms and the largest owners.
One row per platform with a sourced tie or a listed parent, and the largest billing organisations standing alone. “Ties public” counts only entities whose tie was public by the newest file.
03 / Metros
Who holds each metro.
Share of physical therapist listings at current sites, by platform. Home-based platforms are left out: they list every therapist at one office.
04 / No platform tie found
226 practices with 3 or more therapists.
Names, cities, sizes and 12-month changes are in the workbook. For 31 of the practices drawn for the hand checks nothing was found beyond CMS records, so the claim stays “no platform tie found”.

05 / How it was checked
Bars set before the checks ran.
The tests behind the method are on the proof page. Below them, what the records cannot show.
Current sites against chains' own clinic lists: 3 of 4
Athletico 95 %, Peak 100 %, Vista 91 %, Endeavor 62 %. Bar: 90 % of our sites on the chain's list.
No platform tie found: 107 of 120
Practices drawn at random and searched for a platform, private-equity, hospital or health-system owner; none found (bars 18 of 20, 45 of 50 and 45 of 50; 108 of 120 together).
Platform ties: 42 of 49
Held as written when every row was re-read at its source; the rest were corrected before release.
Distances: 30 of 30
Drawn “within 25 miles” pairs were within 30 miles street to street (median error 1.4 miles).
Moves: 7 practices
Practices whose therapists mostly moved to a platform's billing entity with no announcement found (55 PTs now at the platform). Of 9 announced openings, 0 were in the records before the press.
Every published number: 349 of 349
Matched by a second, separate program.
Closures
Closed sites stay in Medicare's records for a while, so falling site counts are not part of the data set. Clinician counts and moves are.
Therapists who never bill Medicare
Practices that see few Medicare patients are undercounted.
Why something moved
The records show that therapists moved between owners, never the deal behind it. “No platform tie found” is the claim, not “independent”.
Exact positions
Sites sit at the centre of their ZIP code; positions and distances are approximate.
Head counts
These are counts of Medicare records. They follow a company's trend; they do not equal its own number.
Faster news
Announced openings reached the records a median 202 days after the press. The records add what is never announced.
